LISTEN TO THE PODCAST
We've often heard we are what we eat. And many make the observation that the quickest way to wellness is making the right choice, especially when it comes to food. But is this really our choice to make? You might say yes without a second thought, but one author begs to differ. Michael Moss is the author of the book Salt, Sugar, Fat. He stopped by Tonia's Kitchen to discuss ways that megafood companies are somehow able to manipulate the human brain into needing foods we know are bad for us. Michael told Tonia about the gooey, sticky, mouthful phenomenon. He says, essentially, it's where the food we eat, more specifically that the fat and sugar content connects with the pleasure center of our brains, and makes us feel good. Moss argues it's not so much a taste issue, as a sensation. He says food chemists have spent years studying it. Agree or disagree, it does make you think.
