Secondly, if you're having a party to celebrate, you'll want something special to serve to your rowdy and hungry party guests. There's the usual appetizers like wings, cheese fries and sliders. But how about something different? What about American Rarebit. Cookbook author Susanna Hoffman, who wrote Bold, told Tonia's Kitchen her recipe is made with bourbon, bacon and cheddar cheese. Hoffman says she uses slightly pickled shallots, one slice of bacon, whole wheat bread, only one tablespoon of bourbon (save the rest for cocktails!) and some sweet hot mustard. Place into a saucepan, and heat. Your guests will be cheering!
