Of Tarts And Tomatoes


Have you ever tried to make a tart, and had trouble getting it out of the pan?  Nick Malgieri might have an answer to your troubles, and it involves canned tomatoes!  Yes, canned tomatoes.  Nick, who wrote the cookbook Pastry, told Tonia's Kitchen he takes the cooled tart and stands it on a 28 ounce
can of tomatoes.  The panels of the tart pan fall away, and then you only need to slide it onto a platter.  Nick recommends you move it onto a wooden cutting board because it doesn't harm your knife when you cut your tart.  Then place the can of tomatoes back into your pantry and save it for some red sauce that you might make later!
