It's Christmas Cookie Week here at Tonia's Daily Dish. To celebrate, let's start with stained glass cookies. Author Susan Reid who penned the The King Arthur Flour Essential Cookie Cookbook offers a delicious recipe that will taste terrific, but won't hurt your teeth like real stained glass. Reid told Tonia's Kitchen she starts with an dough that includes butter shortening, cream cheese, and a little nutmeg. The dough should be refrigerated, because it means a big difference in the flavor. Cut a shape into the dough of the individual cookie, then bake most of the way. Afterward, place crushed hard candies into the shape, and finish baking. Not only are they delicious, but they're a lot of fun to look at!
