Napa, Sonoma, Mendicino, San Luis Obispo...all of those California counties are synonymous with Wine Country. And when you go, you know! Of course, Cali's wine country is about more than just the wine, itself, there's also magnificent food to be tried, and fresh produce that feeds the world to be grown. Janet Fletcher, who wrote the book Wine Country Table, stopped by Tonia's Kitchen to talk about what she calls a foodie road trip through the wine growing regions. She told Tonia she actually made it a point to stop and visit one winery in each of the 50 areas that are known for growing California wine. She chose which wineries to come to based on their sustainability practices, which she highlights in the book. Janet says these are truly exceptional places to visit, and if you can't make it, the book does the touring for you. She spoke with growers and farmers and discussed the challenges of producing food today, and for the future. You get the sense that it's a special place and unique in all the world.
