A Pear Dessert That's Pear-Fect!

See what I did there? Chef Steven Petusevsky stopped by Tonia's Kitchen to talk about his Pears with Gin..  It doesn't sound like a dessert, but it is!  Steven says he starts with two pears that are halved and cored.  Then sprinkle with some gin, agave and lemon zest, along with black pepper.  He then places everything in a grill pan and cooks for about 8-10 minutes on a barbecue.  The pears will turn out lightly tender, and that's perfect for the next step, rolling them in almonds. The agave will help the almonds stick to the pears.  Serve with some vanilla ice cream, and enjoy!

4 pears, halved and cored
1 tablespoon butter blend, melted
1 tablespoon gin
2 teaspoons agave or amber/maple syrup
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
Juice of one lemon
1/4 cup of almonds, sliced

Combine all of the ingredients, except almonds into a medium bowl and put into a large, sealed plastic bag. Marinate pear halves at least 15 minutes at room temperature

2. Preheat grill to medium high and place on grill grate. Cook as per directions for direct heat method. Grill, turning occasionally for 5-6 minutes until pears are marked well and tender.

3. Place almonds on a plate and roll grilled pears through the almonds, pressing gently to coat.
