There's really nothing that says Christmas like a candy cane! And then there's nothing like special holiday Rice Krispy treats. Now you can have both this season. Nina Elder is the Executive Food Editor for Rachael Ray Every Day Magazine. She stopped by Tonia's Kitchen to talk about her recipe for Krispy Canes, a holiday take on the Rice Krispy treat. Nina told Tonia it's very reflective of the Christmas season, thanks to their candy cane shape and the use of peppermints. It makes a great snack for the kids, as they get ready for Santa!
In a large pot, melt 4 tbsp. butter over medium.
Add 10 oz. marshmallows; cook, stirring often, until melted, 3 to 5 minutes.
Off heat, stir in 1 ⁄2 cup white chocolate chips and 1 ⁄4 cup crushed peppermints.
Stir in 6 cups puffed rice cereal; press into a greased 9-by-13-inch pan. Cool, then cut out with a candycane cutter.
Drizzle with Instant Icing made with vanilla frosting and sprinkle with crushed peppermints.
