The Great Grapes of Napa Valley
LISTEN TO THE PODCAST
And they are great! Sometimes the question isn't whether wine, but what kind of wine, especially when enjoying a fine meal. Angelina Mondavi, with the Mondavi Estate in the capital of wine county, Napa County, California, stopped by Tonia's Kitchen with some thoughts on that very subject. Angelina told Tonia that the grape harvest is look phenomenal this year, with excellent quality and copious varieties of wine to choose from.
So now that we know the quality of the grapes are excellent, it's time to choose a bottle. Some helpful hints from Angelina: The Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Noir, Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon varieties all came in very nicely this year. She notes the Zinfandel is a peppery and aromatic wine, that generally has a higher alcohol content. The Pinot Noir is a lighter and easier to drink blend, whereas the Cabernet is lush, beautiful wine with a fine aroma and subtle oak tones. No shortage of choices here. Cheers!
