Fall means many things, but in the foodie world, fall means apple season. Anna Bullet, who's the Executive Chef at Cooking Light magazine told Tonia's Kitchen she wants to encourage you to wild with this popular (and sweet) fruit. Go beyond the pies and add them to your main courses, especially spicy ones as the sweetness (and coolness) of the apples will balance out the spiciness and the heat. Anna told Tonia to get the most from your apples, make sure you put them in the fridge, otherwise they'll ripen much faster if left at room temperature. If you do leave them out, make sure you keep the apples away from other perishable fruits, like avocados or bananas, because the natural ethanol apples give off will cause the other fruits to ripen faster too when they're near. Of course, if you need other fruits to ripen faster, putting the apples near them could be an easy way to get them ready.
